HISTOLOGIC CHANGES OF MOUSE SKIN FOLLOWING IRRADIATION OF 585 nm PULSED DYE LASER

Abstract
The treatment of benign cutaneous vascular lesion has been greatly improved since the advance of lasers. The 585 run pulsed dye laser has been proved the treatment modality of choice for these lesion.
The histologic changes of mouse skin after irradiation of 585 nm pulsed dye laser were studied. The results were analized, and concluded as follows;
1. The epidermis was not changed through the experimental period.
2. The blood vessels were selectively damaged initially, and return to the normal after 4 weeks of irradiation.
3. The penetration depth of 585nm dye laser was at the level of subcutaneous tissue.
4. The dermal collagen and skin appandages were not changed through the experimental period.
5. There is no considerable difference of histologic findings in mouse skin according to the changes of energy density from 6.0 J/cm2to 7.5J/cm¢¥.
6. The 585nm pulsed dye laser seems to be the excellent treatment modality for cutaneous vascular disease such as portwine stains.
